Cotton Incorporated finds a new way to inspire apparel designers and retailers
Responding to the textile industry’s growing shift to synthetic fibers in the 1960s, America’s cotton producers and importers founded Cotton Incorporated to advocate for the use of organic cotton in apparel and home products.
The innovative nonprofit found new ways to make the case for real cotton–including making it the first commodity marketed directly to consumers. That tradition continues today, with the organization’s trademarked Seal of Cotton recognized worldwide as proof that a product contains genuine cotton.
For its newest innovation, Cotton Incorporated wanted to create an immersive digital environment where fashion designers could learn about the various types of cotton fibers, mix and match materials to create new looks and trends, and find inspiration in the endless possibilities with cotton.
The organization partnered with ByondXR. Using our immersive experience platform, Cotton Incorporated created a virtual showroom with dynamic product visualization, to showcase dozens of fabrics and offer creative ideas for fashion designers and product developers.
Cotton Incorporated’s CottonWorks™ Virtual Showroom is helping to advance the organization’s core mission in several ways.

3 Ways Cotton Incorporated Is Benefiting from its Virtual Showroom with Product Visualizer
1. Making a persuasive case for cotton fabrics.

Cotton Incorporated used the ByondXR platform to create visually rich ways of showcasing the many properties of different cotton fabrics, to help apparel creators better understand how to develop products suited to specific consumer needs and goals.
For example, in the virtual showroom’s ACTIVE area shown above, designers can identify which fabrics offer moisture resistance, durability, and breathability.
Rather than simply list these properties in a long list, this virtual showroom takes advantage of the flexibility of ByondXR’s immersive experience platform to let fashion designers sample these fabrics for themselves in a realistic digital environment.
2. Educating and inspiring fashion designers around the world.

With the TREND area in the CottonWorks™ Virtual Showroom, the organization has found yet another way to educate and inspire designers.
Using the ByondXR platform’s dynamic product visualization tools, Cotton Incorporated created an interactive space where fashion designers and product developers can discover new fabrics, selected by trend forecasters traveling the world to identify new styles.
Designers can then view these fashion-forward garments in vivid 3D, rotate items 360 degrees, sample various color options, view items in varying settings, and even explore additional items to complement each garment to create new looks.

3. Enabling personalized showroom experiences for every visitor.

With cotton playing such an important role in so many apparel products, Cotton Incorporated needed to ensure that this virtual showroom allowed designers of all types of garments, from all around the world, to quickly identify and explore the fabrics and trends most relevant to their customers’ needs.
That’s one reason Cotton Incorporated chose ByondXR: our technology platform makes it easy to create highly personalized immersive experiences.
With its CottonWorks™ Virtual Showroom, the organization has created a dynamic and interactive environment in which designers can tailor their own journey and view fabrics and products that are relevant to their product design needs.
